Partnership with Children works with public schools in New York City’s highest-need communities to provide critical social and emotional supports for the hardest-to-reach youth and to systematically build schools that are safe, successful and conducive to learning. Partnership with Children will be implementing the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF)Freedom Schools® program in one of our partner schools during the summer of 2026. The CDFFreedom Schools® programis an educational andculturalenrichmentprogram that providessummer options for elementary school childrenand strengthensfamilyandcommunityinvolvement. The program serveschildrenin grades first through 5thfor sixweeks. The activity-basedprogramintegrates reading, conflict resolution, andsocial action,and is designed to promotesocial,cultural,andhistoricalawareness.
The SiteCoordinator will manage the day-to-day operationsandserve as thesupervisor to a team of Servant Leaders (interns) for one CDFFreedom Schools® programsite serving 40 students for six weeks. The ideal SiteCoordinator iscommitted to the goalsof the program, able to workcollaborativelywithall program constituents and will gain familiaritywith the culture and dynamicsof the community.

Maintain the safety ofallstaffandstudents on-site
Ensureproperimplementationofthe CDFFreedomSchoolsprogrammodel by managingdailysiteactivities and tracking program components in the Partner Information Community (PIC) database required by CDF and PWC’s attendance and outreach database
Attendallrequiredtrainings (see below)
Serveina supervisorycapacityand as the primarycontact for theServantLeaderInterns leading up to and during the TrainingInstitute in Tennessee and throughout the 6-week program, including the day-to-day management of staff and approval of timecards
Workinconjunctionwiththe ProjectDirector and CSD or other designee to coordinateafternoonactivities, fieldtrips,familyengagement initiativesandvolunteerresponsibilities
EnsureServantLeaderInternshave the necessarybooks,materials and suppliesfor all dailyactivities
ObserveServantLeaderInternsfacilitatingReadingCurriculumlessonsandprovideconstructivefeedbackfrequently; evaluate Servant Leader Interns twice during the program and at program end
Ensurethat the CDFFreedomSchools IntegratedReadingCurriculum isimplementedwithfidelity
Collect program data, write end-of-summer report, and submit the report to CDF in a timely manner
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, required
Registered voter required
ServantLeader Internexperience at a CDF FreedomSchools site, preferred
Spanish language proficiency a plus, but not required
At least 6 months of administrative and leadership experience in summer camps or after-school programs, and strongleadership and managementskills (specifically leading college-age interns)
Exhibitpositivebehaviorandattitude;model a matureandprofessional demeanor
Possessexcellentwrittenandverbal skills
Strongappreciationandunderstandingofindividual culturalhistory and the willingness to be openandrespectfulofothercultures
Hours & Compensation:
Summer position: mid-June to mid-August (camp dates 6/29-8/7/2026)
Monday-Friday, 7am – 4pm or 8am-5pm (official times TBD)
Additional 8 days of mandatory Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School orientation and trainings March 26-29, 2026 (virtual) and June 2 - June 6, 2026 (in Knoxville, TN; travel and lodging costs covered by Partnership with Children); and a stipend for these trainings in the amount of $1,500 will be provided; $500 after successful completion of the March training; $1000 after successful completion of the June training
Local orientation and set up for Freedom Schools for all Site Coordinators with their Servant Leader Interns will happen on Saturday, May 9 (date to be finalized), Saturday, June 13 (date to be finalized), and an additional two days in your school will be scheduled between June 25 and June 27, 2026.
Compensation is $28-30/hour for the 6-week program and approved prep time (up to 25 hours).
